While the Asia-Pacific has become the dynamic center of the world economy, politics, and diplomacy, the simultaneous “rise” of China and India, the drive for “normalcy” of Japan, and the forceful “return” of the United States have brought about great uncertainties in the region.

 

Regional Regimes in the Asia-Pacific

The recent proliferation of regional regimes, particularly regional trade regimes, has prompted a growth of scholarly interest in the subject on the part of both economists and political scientists.

 

Common-Goods Issues

Major common-goods (non-traditional security) issues such as energy, environment, water, human development and food related issues create formidable challenges to Asia’s drive for modernisation.

 

New Approaches to Building Markets in Asia

In March 2010, a new research project began at the Centre on Asia and Globalisation at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, under the title ‘New Approaches to Building Markets in Asia’.
